Best of Consulting: 2nd place for a data-driven ML platform in the logistics industry
Comma Soft AG was awarded 2nd place in the “Data & AI” category at this year's “Best of Consulting” awards presented by WirtschaftsWoche. This honor is a great success for our team - and a sign of the transformative impact of data-driven solutions in the logistics industry. Together with our customer, we have developed a machine learning platform that enables efficiency gains along the entire logistics chain.
Rethinking logistics – data-driven, efficient, flexible
Our customer, a global logistics company, was faced with the task of making processes more efficient and making data-based decisions in real time in an increasingly complex environment. The challenge was to create a flexible, robust platform that supports both cloud and on-premises environments – and integrates seamlessly with the company’s diverse applications and data sources.
The solution approach: A central ML platform for maximum flexibility and independence
Our solution was to build a central machine learning platform tailored to the specific requirements of the logistics industry. With the help of data analysis and machine learning, logistics processes can be continuously optimized.
From a strategic perspective, it was important to develop a solution that could be used on different platforms and migrate quickly between cloud providers while ensuring the highest security standards.
Step by step to data-driven logistics
Our solution is based on three central components:
- Efficient data processing and automation – Seamlessly integrated ML pipelines are used to support data-driven decisions along the entire logistics chain. This enables the customer to optimize processes in real time and react more quickly to changes in the market.
- Scalability and strategic independence – The platform is designed to be cloud-independent. It supports both multi-cloud and on-premises environments and adapts flexibly to the respective strategic needs of the company.
- Cost savings and efficiency gains – The platform delivers operational benefits and measurable financial effects. Cost savings of over 6 million euros are expected by 2025, in addition to efficiency gains from optimized logistics processes.
The implementation: working together for a holistic solution
The project required a high level of expert knowledge and agile collaboration. Comma Soft worked closely with the customer’s various departments. Another key aspect was the enablement of employees through comprehensive training to enable them to use the new technologies successfully. More than 500 employees received targeted training on how to optimally integrate the platform into their day-to-day work.
The results: Logistics processes in the digital age
Our platform has proven to be a real game changer in the logistics industry. The company can now make data-based decisions in real time, resulting in huge efficiency gains. The high flexibility of the platform also allows the customer to develop further data-driven use cases and continuously adapt them to new market requirements.
